Tour the Frida Kahlo Museum and Coyoacan

Group tours to the Frida Kahlo Museum & Coyoacan can range anywhere between $59-$100 and will last anywhere between 5-8 hours. The price of these guided tours doesn’t usually include food, drinks or tips. What it does include is a guide and transportation to each destination. • My home: where you’ll find love, family and lots of reggae records

    Posted on February 19, 2017March 19, 2017

I believe them when they say home is where the heart is. My home is where my husband is, where my dog is, and it’s where I want to be, too. We’ve made our home into a place that’s full of the things we love and that reminds us of moments, people and places that […]

  • My Life on Skis—Park City Edition

    Posted on February 1, 2017June 2, 2017

I’m not a very adventurous skier. I learned to ski about 5 years ago, and maybe that’s why. I was already a seasoned worrier. I tore my ACL trying to get off of a lift about a year after that. So to say that I’m a cautious skier is an understatement. That’s why, during my […]

  • Helpful buying, renting & packing tips for first-time skiers

    Posted on January 12, 2017June 2, 2017

Every time I go skiing, I feel like it’s my first time. I’m a self-described advanced beginner. This year will be my fifth time skiing. Typically, our ski trips are an extended weekend and last Friday through Sunday, so we’re really on the slopes only one whole day. Each time I learn a little more, […]

  • The Best Way to Feel Irie When You’re stuck in freezing Dallas, TX

    Posted on January 7, 2017January 7, 2017

I haven’t been to Jamaica, but I recently checked out the Island Spot in Oak Cliff, Texas. With only one other location in Carrollton, this place is a respite for Dallas-based Rastafarians-at-heart. The brightly lit dining area is simply decorated with tables and chairs and a nice, Caribbean-themed bar. A Pandora playlist of all your […]

  • Our One Day Hermosa Beach Experience & How to Do It Yourself

    Posted on December 21, 2016

I imagine Californians consider Hermosa Beach as just another cool beach town. Everybody knows it. Everybody’s been there. But I haven’t, really. On a recent trip to Cali for a concert, we had only one day to spend in Hermosa Beach. This is what we did, and if you want to ever recreate our trip, […]

  • Fine fashion and good tunes at the Chicano Soul Legends Concert

    Posted on December 8, 2016

It’s 7:15 p.m. on Saturday that I enter the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., for the Chicano Soul Legends concert. And it’s about 7:18 p.m. on Saturday that I realize I’ve technically stepped into an enclosed sampling of the east LA Chicano community. It’s amazing. I arrive with a giant grin on my face and […]

    Posted on November 9, 2016March 19, 2017

Some of us might not have slept very well last night. I know I didn’t. I think it’s fair to say that a lot of people are going through the motions today in kind of a blur. For those of us who are finding it hard to concentrate, try some of these techniques. These are […]

    about me

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, I grew up going to Mexico every summer. Spending three months there annually, I was essentially bred to travel. My mom was from Mexico and my dad from Dallas. And I, along with my brother, grew up bilingual. Switching from English to Spanish and back again seemed natural. It seemed easy. That was then. My mom passed away in 1989, and that changed everything.
